Which Aerodrome Mk II
Thanks Clint ; that was a real guess,as I thought that was the river at the left of the picture. In the winter of `69 we were doing icing trials in Ottawa, and heard about a Lysander that was going to fly at Rockliffe,so we went down there to watch and chat,as one of the trials managers had been a flight -test assistant/`gingerbeer` at `the Glove Factory`(Wetlands) in the war and had time on Lizzies, and the engine rep with us had knowledge of the Mercury and it`s foibles. Anyway much advice was shared, and eventually it flew successfully, on the first rotation on t/o,the mains lifted, and it rotated about the tailwheel..Later,I became a member of the Rockliffe flying club, and spent time down there flying ski-equipped Aernockers and Citabrias, great fun....
Anyway,sorry for the digression,but it`s -OPEN HOUSE...

Wherever it is, I'd hate/love to see a 747 landing with another on either of those parallel taxiways!

Yes, Mr. T - that's Lae - before Nadzab - a strip in town - step of the plane, up the steps and into the main street. Now, if you google earth you will see a traffic roundabout in to the middle of the runway.

Seen The Light.
Correct !
Chievres Airbase Belgium.
First established by the Germans at the end of 1917. They flew fighters from the unprepared grass field.
This particular photograph was taken 13th October 1953 by a Meteor FR9 of No. 2 Sqd. based at Wahn, Germany. In front of the hangars are Meteor F8’s and an Airspeed Oxford.
The modern day photograph below shows the original 3 hangars still standing.
