OK chaps,

Yes, this does seem to have ground to a halt.

The picture was taken in 1930 at an airshow attended by 25,000 people.
Ford Tri-Motors were just starting to fly some of the first Transcontinental flights from this place.

There, that's given it away !!!!! Time to move on.

Ford had an assembly plant at Sommerville Mass. Long since gone, but I can find no aviation connection.

Springfield Airport, Springfield, MA

Perhaps the greatest 'claim to fame' for the Springfield Airport came when it was home to the Granville Brothers,
the creators of the famous & outrageous "Gee Bee" series of racing planes in the 1920s & 30s.
