Please take the stage mate.

"Bugger; that was quick, went for a pee and the next ones come and gone before I got back!!!"

get a bigger bladder mate...On second thoughts, the prune clock says it was five minutes, so it certainly isn't a small one.

Mind you, it could be sumfin' else innit......

The flow rate is fine thanks LM, but it was very full and I did take a phone call on the way back. Gotta go soon (home that is). Good hunting!

I was almost gone when I remembered seeing something like that!

I am definately off now, so Open House please if correct.

Re: #6285

That S-38 Sikorsky and a single-engined mate featured in Martin and Osa Johnson's book Wings over Africa, printed before WW2. Johnson flew one of the planes on the safari and "Woody" Quesada was the paid pilot and aviation expert who flew the other. Elwood Quesada went on to be a USAF general and first head of the US FAA.

Is this the 'amazing' Jona J-6 Sesquiplane with the tilting upper wing?

Struggling for ideas on this one....just been looking at a 3-view of the Jona J6....its so like the Jona, so I'm wondering if there is some connection...is it a Magni of some description...or even Italian come to that?

Just a quick look in at lunchtime.

I agree with Skytrain, it is very like the Jona and I wonder if, when RR said that it wasn't the "wobbly wing" J6, he was correct in that his silhouette clearly shows struts supporting the upper wing and an absence of the "pivot pylon". Also there is no outer cowling (Townend-ring) on the engine. So could it be the "fixed wing" J6S ?

http://www.airwar.ru/image/idop/other2/j6/j6-3.jpg

I was not happy with appearance of the lower wing in the link I posted (I now think it's just unbolted), so before I go home I've had another poke around and found these drawings:

Jona J6 S – Manuale d’uso e manutenzione

Note that the Manual's Title is Jona 6-S (without the J)

Thanks for the support LM

Open House please if correct as I'm off fairly soon.

Just shutting down and had to have another look as I thought RR wouldn't be that pedantic and I found the photo he posted and it's titled the Magni J.6-S

Another push in the right direction, thanks Skytrain and sorry!

Really off home now, quiet innit!! Going, going, gone, Open House please.

Thanks LM, I guess you saw the page too before I pulled the link, but I thought it it looked too good a source to spoil RR's fun, but we know now don't we !! (I expect you already knew about the site, but I didn't)

Whilst we wait, this pic is called Movin, and was a long long time before Photoshop and computers. 35mm film SLR. It's a genuine pic. Should have been called shiftin'

Mmm, but the Magni J6S is listed under other references as the Jona J6S. The aircraft s/n MM313 is listed as a Jona J6 in my source, and the other serials referred to are listed as Jona J6S's. Anyway, I guess we wait for RR to confirm but (and no offence Sinco), I personally think Noyade should be awared this one.

Here is one reference on the net:

Boys, boys... I am so sorry. I've been travelling and just didn't have the opportunity to get on to SC! Yes, I should have cancelled a meeting or two, I know that now!!!!

"Is this the 'amazing' Jona J-6 Sesquiplane with the tilting upper wing?" I guess you're right mate. I have it as the Magni J.6-S but I think we're all agreed that it was one and the same machine...

Over to you Graeme
