Morning RR, and what a great challenge.

I don't think for one minute that I'll get my own back with this:

Sorry LM, this one's got me. I'm not good with gliders at the best of times and today my brain has failed!! I seem to recognise it but I can't remember where from. My initial thought is German. I have to go out soon but I'll be thinking!!!! RR

Sorry Mate.

It isn't German, although you are forgiven for thinking so.

I now also have to go out for an hour or so. Catch you later.

LM

OK.

I'm not sure why I think this but is it a kamikaze type of machine? Maybe I have kamikaze on the brain! I certainly don't think it is a glider for gliding's sake, it has a purpose. A glide-bomb, perhaps?

I've just had lunch with a long time friend of mine - off Hunters and Harriers......

BF-8

Morning RR

Very elusive this one, I conclude that it has to be the Avicar BF-8, but I can't track down much info other than that given in your generous clues!

If it is correct, then Open house please as I'm back to work now.

having a coffee and just found this on Aerofiles:

Kenneth Bailey, Dearborn MI.
BF-8 1949 = Odd-looking 2pCB "plane-car" with 85hp pusher motor had no registration, but painted on its side was a large "PAT PEND" to indicate that Mr Bailey had some ambitious plans for his creation. Positive-staggered 8'0" wings, and twin tails on a short-coupled fuselage. No performance data found.
That's more than I found mate!!!

RR,

"Maybe I have kamikaze on the brain! I certainly don't think it is a glider for gliding's sake, it has a purpose."

Not a glide bomb. A real glider for gliding' sake.....

"I've just had lunch with a long time friend of mine - off Hunters and Harriers......"

Please PM with whoosat..

Looks like something from the 1922 Itford Hill Glider Competition.

Morning all (or is it just you out to play RR?)

Cluetime.

It is (or was) Polish and had a poor glide performance.

Almost twenty four hours now, which I personally feel should be the maximum.

It looks like I will have to reveal it in a couple of hours, so get something up your sleeve.

Yes! Yes! Yes! (Dancing around the room with Queen's "We are the Champions" blasting in the background).
Right down to the wire, eh!? I like the idea of a 24hr time limit David.

In all honesty, I must thank you for the 'Polish' clue.
Two more sleeps guys, are you getting excited?

"We are the Champions"

Isn't that associated with the Ashes?...

So now to your challenge.

Apart from the nosewheel, it's a ringer for an Arup.

The Ashes? Hmmm don't seem to recollect the result there....

Hey, that's good David, the Arup. There is a "friendly" connection, but no, not an Arup.

Evening SC! Unfair to the poms? Are you kidding me?

Whatever machine you're referring to, keep it close by for a challenge, sounds like a beauty!

To quote Martin...

A cluette?

-It is listed in the Smithsonian Directory
-US designed and built
-late 1950s/early 1960s
-a one-off
Ditto for me, except for one..it flew in 1986.
