Morning all, and good afternoon Noyade .

We did indeed have it on Jan 1st - and I missed the fact AGAIN!

It is the Koolhoven FK-58.

Control moves to Oz.

Thanks LM.

Try this one...Couple of clues. Nothing to do with Rutan and it's resting on water. I'll check your progress in the am.

Doesn't etiquette require that we wait for Noyade?

Its Japanese Bradenav, a Shin Miewa,by the way......

Having said that it does have a Russian look about it too...... off to the books...... It looks very Beriev-like from the front. RR

I think you were correct the first time RR; although I can't find a designation for it, this looks pretty conclusive!

On the other hand; there are detail differences on close inspection! Unlike Bradenav's drawings, the tip floats appear to be fixed on the "flight" photo, the deflector on the nose looks bigger too, as it would surely show up on the plan view if it were that wide and there's a window missing, but it is only a model.

Here's a later plan showing more differences to the trailing edge/nacelle contour, so maybe keep looking? I'm off line now 'til tomorrow lunchtime. Good luck!

Good evening gentlemen.

As a retired military officer I insist on discipline and etiquette.

Graeme has not yet confirmed the challenge, and therefore no posts are valid.

Perhaps it's time that we all list thread rules.

Sorry guys.....

I think I'll sign off the thread for a while whilst you all sort this out.

Bye Bye for now..........

Damn Richard, you were quick! I thought it would have lasted longer! Maybe you can answer me this; did it ever fly? I don't think it did. Lots of shots "skimming" along water but none airborne.

Yours...

I insist on discipline and etiquette.
I accept that David but it must be annoying when I post on a British based forum that has a 12 hr time difference and you have to wait such a long time for confirmation?
Of course if you have moved on and are all wrong, then I'm just going to drag all your asses back! lol.

So who has control? Perhaps it should go back to Noyade?

So who has control?
G'day mate. Sinco's posts above have links to "Flight Global?" which do not download for me, no idea why. It tries but after approximately 10 minutes the computer freezes.

So I can't tell, did he identify Richards 3-view?

Hi Graeme...in fact Ridge Runner was the first to identify it as a Shin Miewa.

abeit they are described as "short hops"
Thanks Ken, I also found that site (making sure an image of it was on the net) and read that. The article I got the photo from hoped that an "out-of-the-water and over-the-fence" flight would take place "soon." That was March 1981. I suspect it never happened?

Mate, at this precise moment, you're the only one with a 'green light' on! If you can determine IF I've solved it, then it's open house for me. Got Chrissy shopping with my wife today....

EDIT; Just read your post above. I'm butting out and leaving it with you!

Cheers,
Graeme

The full answer was Shin Meiwa Light Amphibian ( LA ).
Another source says Shin Meiwa " SS-X "

Sinco should have the control ,don't he ?

About the Merganser : I don't know more ...

Cheers

Good night/day

Richard

I think it should go open house boys. The Shin Miewa, if you read my post, was just a comment and a "by the way" but I clearly say that we should wait for Noyade. Night night... RR
