Yipes! Looks... French?
Is that a Jupiter on top? Nine cylinders.
If so then I'll guess at Loire 50

No perhaps about it Mel, it is the Loire 50, aka Loire 50 Bis and Loire 501.
It was a three seat parasol winged Boat designed for liaison and training that made its first flight on 7 September 1931 with a 172kW Salmson 9AB radial engine. It later sank, was recovered and redesigned as an amphibian, flying again in March 1932. In 1933 the Salmson engine was replaced by a 61kW Hispano-Suiza 9Qd radial and she was re-designated the, “Loire 50 bis”. The production version was designated the “Loire 501” and six units were ordered. These were delivered to various French Naval Air Stations during 1935. The last Loire 501 was used at Karouba in Tunisia in August 1941.

Judging by the number of viewers, since it was posted, 200+ it would appear that why LM.
Time for a clue perhaps. Well one clue is that the aircraft was designed for reconnaissance purpose (but that is pretty obvious really). It first flew early 1940s and some 10 were produced.

No this aircraft was not French but it is from the Continent of Europe. It was originally fitted with an Alfa-Romeo engine but was re-engined with a Bristol Pegasus engine.

Sorry Graeme you must have posted just after I logged off. The answer to your question was "Yes, for a short while" I might need your assistance on another case of identification.
