Next Challenge
I agree so I won't post. Isn't it about time we heard from Mel?
Here is a nice easy one though:-

Hi LM. Thanks for the offer. However, my list is up to date, I update it weekly. I have just got to get around publishing it. Unfortunately the host server I use, Yahoo Geocities are going to start charging so I am in the prosess of transferring to another host. My updated lists will be published shortly.

Mel,
Yet again thank you for the hard work you put in on the challenge lists. I think that we all appreciate it.
This is another interesting challenge. Would it be either the Bartini Stal-6 or Stal-8 (probably the latter)? Designed by the Italian born engineer R. L. Bartini for the Russian OOS.

Mel's Challenge
Thanks for that S'land. You also have hit the nail on the head. It is indeed the Bartini Stal'8, unfortunately I have been unable to find a photograph of the Stal'8. Apparently the cockpit canopy slid forward over the windscreen which accounts for the odd apperance in the side elevation with the undercarriage down.

Thanks Mel,
Bartini was an interesting chap. Born in Fiume, Austro-Hungary (now Rijeka, Croatia) studied at the Politecnico di Milano. He joined the Italian communist party and when the Fascists came to power he escaped to Russia. He was imprisoned in Russia from 1938 to 1946 and was finally "rehabilitated" in 1956. He died in 1974 in Moscow. The Bartini Effect in aerodynamics is named after him.
Enough of the lecturing. Here is the next offering.

Evening Lightning Mate. Yep, it is indeed running. I am always amazed when they do run. I get the feeling that when I post an aircraft everyone in the world will know what it is straight away. Time for a clue, I think.
It is not German, but it is European.
Richard.

Hi S'land/Richard!
The total lack of bracing anywhere for what appears (to me) to be a product of the 20's is intriguing. Did it go into production?
Not all of them!
