It looks like an early version of the Westland Pterodactyl to me but it doesn't quite fit with the pictures in my copy of Putnam.

I keep coming back to the SZD-6 Nietoperz,but I know it isn't that.
I think it is, but the rudder gives me difficulties. Cannot reconcile the picture unless the rudder is fully defected, and maybe not even then .

Didn't they try three variants before they gave up and sent it to museum?

Reg, silhouette's can be deceptive. But try a view from this angle:

What looks like a kink in the leading edge is actually the fuselage!

Clearly a project, Ken, but not Convair. It dates from 1950.

Yes there were three variants, but no external changes as far as I know, only to the control system. see:- SZD-6X Nietoperz - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - (which i wrote / created).
