G'day guys!

Looks like two very streamlined drop tanks joined together. Something that may have been towed? However, to me, it looks modern so no need for that sort of thing anymore?

G'day Graeme,

I was just looking for a similar "towed flying fuel bowser" concept, but with no luck so far and I am about to turn in too and see what further clues HP adds on his return!

The thing I can't find so far is anything with that flaired roots to the centre section, it looks quite bulky there.

Nite mate

Sorry everybody, but it took more than I anticipated.

Not a DFS 332, nor a Savoia-Marchetti, nor a Twin Hotspur

Not towed, but "lifted" somehow... because "it's modern"...
Gliding, yes, that's how it comes down
And it's definitely NOT Wernher von Braun's department: no rockets here...

As for the center section, yeah, there's something there... cannot properly figure out what it is though...

It is a concept (the advertising-only kind, methinks...), and it sports my favourite color...

See ya in the morning!

As an apology, I redid the silhouette, this time with the far more nifty pen tool, with transparency and a background (in short, LM-style ).

Hope it will be useful!

Now crashing into bed...

Too late mate, just found it I had to have a last look when I saw your "colour and modern" clues.

The colour is very green and it's big, very big!! the little blob being a "jet" engine!

The Hunt Aviation Gravity Plane ?

If you come back again HP, then it'd better be an Open House for the night/early shift please!

Good morning.

Great challenge HappyPass. It reminds me of one of my unfinished major inventions in my early youth: A skidoo with a propeller, driven by an electric motor that also runs a generator for the electricity for the motor. Should have added windmilling for down-hill phases and would become the youngest Nobel laureate ever…..

And, apropos the patent application of your challenge: I am afraid it will be moot, because of precedent inventions. Here you are your next challenge: Down with gravity, and energy for going up obtained by taking food (which causes gases in the belly, btw). Just ID it.

I think that you may be a bit premature with your challenge mate; HP hasn't been back to confirm yet

I have to go out this morning, so I will still be asking for an OH, hopefully, he won't be too long now

TC, you are right. Just misread your Open House for a call.

So, I suspend my challenge, and wait for HappyPass to return.

And, BTW, it was more like a joke to entertain myself than a serious challenge.

But I stand corrected, my challenge is hereby revoked.

Reg

Yep, that's correct!
I'm not too sure about the "jet engines", I read that this thing was also supposed to have some sort of ram air turbines in order to provide galley power and such.

I still don't understand how you can compress and decompress gases without using energy, that's called a moto perpetuo, and the only one I know that works is this one...

As you can see, there are plenty of skeptics...
Gravity powered aircraft flies with no fuel

SincoTC has requested an Open House.

compress and decompress gases without using energy
As far as I could grasp when reading it quickly, it does not compress and decompress the gases but uses (some?) substance that is in gas form in the warmer lower altitudes and sublimates (into crystals) in colder high altitudes. And the RAM is used to accumulate more energy on down-hill to compensate for the losses of energy on the way…. Quite a somersault of mind….

It also uses some tanks with vacuum in them, if all the informations provided are accurate.
But, once you got up, how in ze hell are you zupposed to come down?
And, btw, I wouldn't be happy at all to have so many up-and-down cycles on my plane 1) from a passenger standpoint (hell normal people has the cheek to puke in level flight!) and 2) from a maintenance man standpoint (Aloha Airlines anyone?), not to mention speed...

Edit: also read TC's link, wich adds a little of plausibility to the thing... The other blog post was a little vague...

HappyPass, you got it. And if "my source" is correct, it was not just a project but flew, too

Jann Wnęk : 1866
Jann was a Polish peasant and carpenter. He built and flew a controllable glider. The coolest thing about him was that he was actually illiterate - he learned about flying based on what he observed in birds and in his carpentry skills.
Back to you

Thanks!
Must be quite brave to try something of that kind... or of this kind!

A wingsuit that has already flown (don't know if confirmed or only claimed) and also crashed, hence the saying...
