Somebody please explain to me in simple terms how these CAPRAs and MATRAs were supposed take off and land
Reg. I expect that this was to be the same as the CAPRA/MATRA I got a couple of months ago, that is, it was to be launched from a catapult and to Glide-land onto water with the props locked horizontally. This was probably a weak point in the plan, as it would need a long catapult to keep the acceleration within reason and you can't change your mind and go-around or taxi once down, although, I believe the one I got had another engine and a water-screw at the back to enable it to taxi back to a recovery jetty. Also, it would need launching and recovery gear at each place to be served, although I seem to recall it was aimed at a very specific route.

Missed out on a couple of good ones today as breaks fell wrong

Edited to say well done (again) Ton! I'm off home now and may not have a workable connection, so I won't respond to the OH, sorry!

G'day Bri!

Pretty sure it's an early Dornier Do 17 V series with the solid nose, but I can't give you the precise number...?

Not the Challenge...

G'day Martin!

Your challenge/image on the previous page...

...just reminded me of two photos from magazines I have. I guess there are lots of semi-complete 4-engine piston airliner prototype/mock-up photos about but I thought these were similar in a way and since I found them again I thought I'd post them as we're all friends and interested in aircraft...right?

Noyade is correct. An early civilian version of the Dornier Do.17. Your turn.

Good morning gentlemen,

Not asking for a clue, just musing:

I wonder if this is manned because it looks so much like an unmanned one, or vice versa…..
