The strip is also known as Sutherland Falls and Quinton Huts strip. The photo is from the top of the McKinnon Pass.
I believe this picture is from the strip looking towards the Sutherland Falls, McKinnon pass is on the left.

I think it is a Maryland so the airport might be Baltimore.

Sorry, not Amsterdam. Not Floyd Bennett Field, New York. The airfield was closed only briefly and then reopened for a different purpose.
