WWI to WWII... (these halls were all quite dark, so I had to push the ISO up, some grainy shots coming up...)
Fokker Dr.I suspended from the ceiling attacking an observation balloon.
The first cruise missile? Points for the first one to get the name!
Curtiss P-6E Hawk
Douglas O-38F
Boeing P-26E
Bell P-63 Kingcobra
Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress, and a piece of another's tail that was part of a German farmer's shed discovered in the early nineties (I think).

Excellent pics - the Boeing Bird of Prey is a complete surprise to me, must have been asleep the day they revealed it... Amazing what 30 seconds of Googling can find!
A trip to Air and Sapce and the USAF MUseum are definitely on my must do list... and cash in my Old Rhinebeck Rain Check on the same trip, so long as the weather doesn't play spoilsport!

A caution for the US
Those "museums" which are located on US military installations now require non-US citizens (aka foreigners ) to apply for access at least 48 hours prior.
I found this out the hard way at Ft. Bragg (Pope AFB) last weekend. Whether you are prepared to undergo a security vetting to simply look at some old aircraft is, of course, a personal decision.
Me ? I won't be going back.

I heard from a mate that the largest Aviation Museum in the world is in Australia.
It's called Qantas and I'm led to believe nearly all of their exhibits are airworthy, sort of, since they sacked most of the gingerbeers.

Paxing All Over The World
I understand that there is an air museum as part of the Brookwood site? I have searched for both an air and motor museum but can find no references to it, either on the web or in PPRuNe.
Is there such a museum that marks Vickers?

Jet Heritage - Bournemouth Airport
Item on the BBC South news tonight - Jet Heritage Museum as Bournemouth International Airport has to leave the present site near the runway which is going to be turned into a carpark. At the moment it is not clear whether a large enough alternative site can be found.
Sad news unless a better site can be found.

MOTAT
The Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) is located in Auckland New Zealand.
After visiting their site, I found that they plan to hangar their Sunderland.
The Teal Solent Mk IV is restored to static display status and the Sunderland has been sitting outside since I can remember. I have some photos which will follow soon.
To my delight they also have an Avenger that I played upon in my childhood. They just cemented it's feet into the playground and that was the attraction.
Bloody great attraction it was!!

EDIT: Found the pictures...
Some shots from inside MOTAT .

Long Marston Museum
Does anyone know what fate awaits the exhibits at the closed museum at Long Marston:

Seems a crying shame that they're left outside to rot!

I used to fly from Long Marston in 1988. The airfield owners were not interested in anything to do with aircraft [other than the rent I would presume. Main income was Drag Racing and Sunday Market Trading] The Shackleton, and others arrived and were left to rot. I was told a grant was gained to aid a Museum set-up. Can't see where the money went. There was a mad sky diving club that dropped through cloud on a regular basis. I was watching two sailplanes from Bidford circling nearby under a developing cu when suddenly 5 plunging skydivers appeared, one missing one sailplane by what looked like just a few feet.
I moved to Old Sarum shortly afterwards.
Sad to see such neglect at Long Marston.

Canada Aviation Museum - Ottawa
Spent a lovely day last summer at this museum, just on the outskirts of Ottawa. One of the most interesting aircraft museums I have been to, since it was very well focussed - purely on aircraft that had some relevance to the history of Canada, either in terms of being built there, or of seeing significant service there.

Quite a few unique specimens - including what little remains of the Avro Arrow:
Apologies for the shortage of photos, I had a new camera at the time, and I hadn't worked out that it wasn't saving photos properly
The hidden secret is the "other hangar" - the museum complex has two enormous buildings, one is the museum itself, the other is the "odds and sods" collection, that an organised tour takes you around. In there, there is a DC9 (AC had loads), a Comet 1 nosecone (guide couldn't explain how they had acquired that one!) and all sorts of great Canadian kit. Too many to list, and in fact even the website doesn't list them for some reason, although they do show up in the Image Bank.
Well worth a trip!
