What aeroplane is this?

Been reading the aviation usenet newsgroup and this picture seems to have everyone stumped as to what it is. Can anyone identify it?

Got me stumped... reminds me of a Swedish type (perhaps the Lufwaffe captured/evaluated it?) but which I can't recall... If the experts can't id it this afternoon, I'll have a flick through a book tonight, see if I can spot it.

By the way the rudder's falling off, and the general tattyness, I'd say it's a movie mock-up of a 'typical aeroplane'.

Air Warfare Forum nailed it a few months back.

Can't remember the details, but other pix were produced for a match.

It was a real a/c, the rudder's not falling off, that's the angle of dangle.

Vague memory it were Eastern Uropeen. Too tired to search now.

Also the canopy, wings and tailplane look a bit Yakkish... but not that fin and rudder!

Not surprised you're tired James, shouldn't you be in bed?

I was thinking Lavochkin La-5F, but according to JDK's source it is a Renard R-37.

It's a freshly restored "Liberty Belle" last July. OAT was +38C; Thank heavens for a drafty airplane!
