Exactly. I was the Tallmantz/Timm Phoenix. (Variously composed) of Fairchild C-82/ Beech 18/ North American T-6/ North American Navion - parts. My stand in after the crash was the pre war North American 0-47.

A remake was being touted - with what equipment I don't know. But the humans were to be at least Dennis Quaid, Hugh Laurie and a ........... woman. Filming started near Walvis Bay, this time to impersonate Mongolia.

Phew, well done Saab and Silas I think they are using a C-119 for the remake. There was a feature on it in Aeroplane / Flypast a while ago.
