Are there areas where only SSR are in use for radar service?

Hi!

I seem to remember that quite a few new ATC-units in europe have phased out PSR and are operating only on SSR-replies, however I can't remember which centres/units. Am I totally wrong? Can anybody enlighten me? :-)

PSR

Canada has phased out almost all its PSR's (assuming we are only talking of civil ops here).

Regarding Norway, you have PSR at (at least) ENGM, ENBR, ENVA and ENBO.

I think you at least need one PSR to have less than 5nm minimum sep. (in Norway CAA requires 2 for some reason)

The Eurocontrol 'Blue Book' might be of some help to you. Don't know why it's called the Blue Book but you can get it here.
