yeah thanks.
but if controller ask pilots to squawk ALT, is that the same as squawk C?

Yes, the controller is asking for exactly the same thing.

Normally select the transponder the ALT [mode C] unless local rules say differently. Helps the TCAS equipped aircraft obtain a better traffic situational awareness.
