Ameriflight LLC, a Dallas US based freight operator with a fleet of well over 100 aircraft, or so they claim have an intense crewing shortage. The average ‘life span’ of an Ameriflight “Freight Dog” pilot is less than 12 months. Let’s examine why:
Firstly, their claim of having a fleet of 133 aircraft, as per Wikipedia data is BS. This is nothing more than other operators conducting services on their behalf. If you are an operator with any beaten-up old Brasilia, Beechcraft 1900, or Metroliner which is held together by sticky tape and chewing gum and want to be an Ameriflight “Freight Dog”, just contact them, they’ll give you some livery to stick on your plane and that’s another aircraft “proudly added to their fleet”.
Their Accident Record of Seventeen Crashes, resulting in ten fatalities and multiple injuries to crew members precedes their reputation.
They had very ambitious plans to acquire fifteen Saab 340 aircraft. They received delivery of three Saabs and seemingly this ambition is now stagnant, due to lack of experience of operating and managing this class of aircraft.
Ameriflight are running continuous advertising to replace their ever-depleting crew numbers. I wonder, could this be because pilots are also aircraft loaders?
I wonder which part of their Enterprise Bargaining Agreement states that a pilot will also act as a freight handler?
Their logo is true enough. They Deliver More Than Cargo. They will deliver breach of employment laws to each and every pilot working for them.
The days of degradation to put a few hours in your logbook are over. Ameriflight are still living in the past, where demeaning of pilots was commonplace. Pilot jobs are plentiful for candidates with all levels of experience.
To all candidates in the pilot job market: Have some self-respect and let Ameriflight deliver more than cargo WITHOUT YOU.
