Sad to report Jenks has recently died.
Once met, never forgotten and the source of many quotes/stories.

Derek was one of ATC's 'characters', and I was lucky enough to hear some of his stories first hand.
I just wish that I had recorded him as he was great in telling them and they are almost unbelievable nowadays. Very entertaining.

Really sorry to hear that. I recall when he became one of "Jake's Bandits" at EGLL during the infamous industrial dispute . 'Heathrow Director 'will know all about that ! I was his boss for a while at Liverpool & what a laugh that was - never a dull moment when he was on watch :). When he was out of ATC for a while, he ran a pub, IIRC in Winsford. I imagine there was much merriment in the bar when he told his stories. RIP matey.

Very sad news, a unique chap. I can only chuckle to myself thinking of some of his stories and views on life, ATC management in particular. RIP
