Can anybody comment on above question? I believe it'll take at least a year until things are back to "normal" and the Regionals resume hiring again.

Since I currently live abroad, how about the CFI situation at flight schools in the States? Are some schools still hiring instructors? I guess most of those instructors who made it to a Regional just prior the Covid19 pandemic returned to their previous school and instruct again?

I think business is pretty slow at the flight schools in the US right now, especially at the big pilot mills with a lot a foreign students?

T2000,

We can only speculate about the future even near term.

Hard to say where the regional refugees will go when furloughed. While most of them may have instructed at some point, I doubt there will be enough CFI spots available to accommodate large numbers of them.

These are tough, uncertain times. I just feel bad for all the people who'll be affected.
