Hello everyone,

I hope someone can help me. Is an external strut mount for the Go Pro camera legal in France?

Any info would be appreciated.

Cheers

There is no specific law against them in France.

However, you will be in all sort of problems if it falls off your aircraft! Whenever I have flown with external go-pro in France (or anywhere else) it is mechanically fixed and not just reliant on a glue pad.

If you install this mount under the authority of a proper STC issued by a Part21 office, then that's what a ramp checker from the DGAC or Gendarmerie des Transports Aériens would deem legal.

Under EASA regulations a mechanic has to sign your mount off as being airworthy. You could use an STC'ed mount, which eases procedure, but a CS-STAN approach is also fine (if you find someone signing that, most are full of fear of the new regulations).
