Considering the other side would know the drone don't shoot back, the wounded pax would probably feel like he's hanging off a noisy slow moving target.

Hmmm. How about adding a weapon to the drone if necessary?
Hmmm. How will a badly injured or unconscious casualty get into the drone?
I'm sure such a drone will be developed eventually.

Of course. Lack of thought on my part. If yer fielding medivac drones I guess you'd be fielding attack drones as well.
I see this civvy me has stumbled into the wrong forum again so, hat, coat...

What is new in using this drone and some of UAVs already tested?
E.g. K-MAX was already used in Afghanistan

The Gyrodyne QH-50 DASH was undertaking unmanned search & rescue 50 years ago, or so it's claimed:

The QH-50 is also unofficially credited as the first UAV to rescue a soldier in combat. “There’s a man who will say categorically that his life was saved by a QH-50,” said Papadakos at the donation ceremony. On a special operations mission during the Vietnam War, this Marine (the military is currently withholding his name) became separated from the rest of his unit. A nearby destroyer dispatched a QH-50 to pick him up. “He climbed on one of the skids and they hauled him back,” says Papadakos.

Hadn't heard of the rescue by drone before and I must admit I was rather sceptical until I looked up the data. It had a turbine engine and could carry 2 torpedoes so if it was sent without those it might be possible. :hmm:

The Urban Aeronautics Air Mule had medivac as a primary role. Wonder how it's going.
