Some interesting stuff in the local media regarding the "Fat Fellows" recent analysis of MAHB and MAS.

MAHB shows so much restraint. Why don't they just publish all the free stuff they have given Air Asia.

Wooblah. :ok:

JJ696,

Forgot what a straight up guy you are.

1) Ahem. Yes I bet He got away scot-free and hasn't parted with a cent.
2) Bet he is negotiating fiercely for free KLIA2 services. He'll invent good reasons and all will be revealed at the appropriate time.
3) Wonder why the man with the midas touch now has the sewage touch. Oh maybe he really is the teflon man.
4) Korea must be next?? What do you think. Herd he is on a kimchi diet LOL.

Regards,

Wooblah.

It's bad enough that KLIA2 was built to his requirements using taxpayers' money. More so when it goes against the airport masterplan. Got away with it probably because of strategic pocket lining.

Malaysia should just invest in a bullet for each corrupt politician & their wonder boy.

Perantau there won't be any politician left if that was the case:D
KLIA2 is nothing but a financial disaster. The corrupt politicians have lined and filled their pockets FULL. Years behind schedule and massively overbudget. Could only happen in Truly Asia. Now doesn't look like it might open in time after being delayed endless times.I'm sure the slagging match between Tony and MAHB will continue long into 2014.

The Kimchi bit was a jibe. Those in the know will chuckle.

More interesting is the Caterham venture.

1) Can Vincent & tony agree??
2) Can Vincent be a snake charmer.
3) Who will get ripped off.
4) How long before it fails.
5) Matsallehs are notorious for failing in management positions in aviation here.

Only one out of every 10 M'sians pays tax: Najib

The current mix of low taxpayer base, increasing public spending, and resistance towards subsidy rationalisation is a recipe for trouble, said Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.

Revealing that only one out of every 10 Malaysians pays tax, Najib said there is an urgent need to raise government revenue, while at the same time reining in increasing amounts spent on broad-based subsidies such as on fuel.

According to Najib, who is also the finance minister, the number of civil servants would increase each year, but when revenue did not rise in tandem, the country would have to resort to borrowing. In the same vein, the proposed goods and services tax (GST) was one such measure that could lead to more revenue for the government, but has been opposed by some.

“When I do not announce any bonus during the tabling of the Budget, then it is not considered a good budget. But each time bonus is dispensed, it is 5.6 billion ringgit (US$1.7 billion) in spending a month,” Najib said at a 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) presentation ceremony at his constituency here on Sunday.

He added that subsidies had to be carefully targeted to strengthen the country’s finances.

“We say our country’s economy is mid-high income and a lot better than other countries. But the question that is on our minds is why are petrol subsidies reduced and the sugar subsidy removed when our economy is already good?

“We have to explain that the rationalisation is to avoid a situation where we have to borrow money,” said Najib, who pointed out that money saved from cutting subsidies was then channelled to more equitable ways of helping people, such as the 1Malaysia Cash Aid (BR1M).

“A person who drives a Kancil only enjoys 900 ringgit ($273) in subsidy a year while those with a big car can stand to benefit up to 2,400 ringgit ($728) if they drive 50km a day. This is not fair.:E

“Also, why should foreigners enjoy our subsidies too? :E That is why we want to refine the system to become targeted, fair, transparent and efficient,” he said.

The Star, Mon, February 24 2014
Najib added that BR1M could also help the people settle debts, and, in principle, this was also helping those in need.

“It is meritorious in Islam to help others. It is okay if the opposition wants to denounce our efforts, as long as we hold on to the principle of helping others,” he said.
