I just twittered, wondering if Waddo had the widest choice of aeroplanes on inventory - it seemed like it today. Can anyone offer me a selection of interesting military aviation type folk I should follow? I have four followers.. yes, four. :(

PM is fine! :ok:

If you follow the RAF main feed and then see who follows them ... that will get you started :ok:

Don't know about PPRuNe but I haven't a clue about t w i t t e r. And I'm barely literate with farce page.

Sometimes I think that the new world is passing me by at a fast rate of knots.

Manston might give them a run for their money. Mind you they're non-flyers.

I remember being Duty Pilot in the Tower one morning at Wyton in 1972. The first six aircraft to get airborne were all station aircraft, and all different types.

I forget the order, but they were:

Basset (207 Sqn)
Devon (207 Sqn)
Varsity (51 Sqn)
Comet (51 Sqn)
Victor (543 Sqn)
Canberra (39 Sqn)

I have some experience of T****** with thousands of followers and regular chats with household name politicians.

The trick is that you build your own community. So firstly identify someone who is already engaged in discussions that interest you. Then follow them. Then go through their followers and following lists and follow lots of them yourself. Doing this you will find more people at the centre of your subject. Follow their followers and following lists. And so on. Follow a few hundred. Then when their tweets start arriving in your timeline you can unfollow the ones who are superfluous. Going forwards it is best to dynamically add new follows as you find good ones and unfollow the bad ones, constantly improving your community. Don't go too big or you won't be able to keep up. Don't go too small or there won't be enough activity.

Now you need followers! Many people you follow will reciprocate. You can tell real world friends about your @ identity. Maybe a thread here with people listing theirs would be good. But the best way to get followers is by tweeting. If your tweets resonate with people then they will follow you. Sometimes I get a dozen new followers from one t****. Good t****s will be re****ted and suddenly you are reaching thousands, tens of thousands, even millions of people. The reach can be amazing.

I have two different t*****r identities for two different areas of interest. The two communities I have built are utterly different. That is the magic, constantly working on perfecting your community to fit your needs.

I will happily answer any questions if I can.

Well, Waddo declares;

Bombardier
E-3D
Reaper
Beechcraft Shadow
RC-135V/W (soon?)

Is there a police/air ambulance there too?

Either way, it clearly doesn't have the most regularly diverse inventory.. although that might soon change (at least for a few days!).

What does twittered mean Al R? Is it a modern version of drunkeness? I've just had two delightfully hazy evenings in Lake District pubs, where all these people were typing away at handheld thingies, not conversing, and avoiding eye contact over their drinks. I'm now old, but what's happening? Hic. Pologies for head drift.
