Our local West Australian newspaper has reported that 6 * B747-400 have been earmaked for Ansett Australia and that SIA engineers have confirmed this. Are there any SIA engineers with any news on this? Ansett Australia so far have denied it.
Thanks

I can confirm atleast 2 747-400 to Ansett Australia...
The 400 are to replace 300 series aircraft operated for the last 5 years.
These aircraft will have the Sydney 2000 titles in the rear fuselage.
Looked really pretty in front of SIA maint base with its new paint scheme.

So why did they leave the SQ symbol on the winglets, as I saw in Sydney a couple of weeks ago?? Run out of paint or a little reminder of who really owns them!!

Does it really matter
winglet is black with yellow outline and there is no sight of SIA logo on it atleast not on 9V-SMB.

can also confirm that -smb was repainted in sin about 2 months back;
understand this was the oldest -400 that sq had (10 years) and that more are on the way out to ansett.

saw that sq had also repainted at least one -300 with 'african star' colours and already given it a south african registration - a/c still in singapore, but since about 6 weeks with a singapore registration again (problems?!?!).
