OZjet were due to operate their first service to Bali last Wed 26th Sep from Perth in association with IndoJet Asia.

Just wondering if the 737-200 was able to fly PH-Bali direct with a full load or did they make a tech stop?

PH -DPS is shorter than PH-MEL.

...and DEFINITELY shorter than MEL-PH...

Is that cryptic for YES??????

Or should I pose the question,

If hypothetically OZjet were to fly from MEL to PH or visa versa would they be able to do that direct with a full load?????

Capt Lim had better catch up with the times. It's now called EXTENDED DIVERSION TIME OPERATIONS. :} :=

G'day folks.

A bit off the main topic but I was just wondering if there is anyone out there able to shed some light on the interview process for Ozjet and the costs involved in the training (accomodation, travel etc) and how long after initial employment you can expect to start getting paid.

All info appreciated.

More importantly, when their only Perth based aircraft goes U/S, what is their plan B?

Are they overnighting crews in Bali?

No overnighting crew in Bali at the moment.

There doesnt seem to be any backup plans for U/S aircraft in Perth at the moment, apart from sending aircraft from the East over to operate, or cross-hires. Ozjet seem to be going very well, alot of lucrative charters happening and all sorts of contracts up for grabs at the moment.

Good to see some competition around at the moment, especially in the current climate of shortages of crew. Interesting times...

Dont think it'd be too bad... around 3hrs 40min each way

I've heard they fly around with an engineer on board which is not a bad idea when your operating one aircraft. Certainly gives you the ability to MEL most items.

But don't use the email to GB. He has gone to greener pastures.

You're an easy man to please Min, 7 1/2 stick hours, on a semi auto a/c, into an asian port, in one day

Gas, do you know were GB went ?

PER-DPS looks a little ETOPSish ( not saying it is, just looks it ), can Oz go direct?

XR, haven't Skywest been doing that on their Bali run for a year or two now?

XRlent100

Yes XR have, but only on the Bali run. I believe Ozjet do it on all their runs in W.A. ie Curtin / Derby as well. When your operating only one aircraft on a limited network I think it's a great idea. Carrying an Engineer is a lot cheaper than cross hiring an aircraft. Skywest on the other hand have a more comprehensive network and places such as PLM and BRM mostly have more than one flight a day so getting an engineer up to sign off an MEL isn't such a drama.

XR carry an engineer due to the unreliability of the Fokkers, sometimes they are great but other bad.

I remember a couple of years ago, i think it was one of the reasons they now carry engineers on some flights.

A full load of passengers got stuck in Bali from Port Hedland for a day or 2 and nothing was done about it and there was a big uproar and there was no good publicity for skywest out of that one.

I believe OzJet have a payload on the PER-DPS service of over 9.5T. PER-DPS is around 7.7 block hours return and no tech stop is required.

As for interviews, I think they may have already occured and a ground school is starting soon. No money up front for the endorsement, just a bond you have to pay out if you leave within a certain period of time.

PER-DPS is around 7.7 block hours return and no tech stop is required. They may not need a tech stop, but looking at their passenger loads for the past couple of days... less than 20 paxs PER-DPS, they could do with a few passenger stops.

I suspect it's a charter deal, meaning that it isn't ozjet shouldering the risk... Then again, 20 pax on a gas-guzzling 732 to DPS is going to lose someone a lot of money fast...

It is a charter op... read the ad..."Island Bound Holidays" - it's their flight, not OzJet's... much in the same way Island Bound are (were??) doing with Skywest.
