Aer Lingus motoring ahead

DUBLIN -(Dow Jones)- The chief executive of Irish flag carrier Aer Lingus ( U.AER) Tuesday said the airline's transatlantic traffic numbers were up 19% in the first four months of this year while European traffic grew by 35%, compared with the same period last year.

Willie Walsh, speaking at a business lunch, also said that the airline has set targets to add 18% more seats on its transatlantic routes and 17% more capacity on European routes by the end of the year.

--------------------------------

I wonder if this 18% includes planned capacity increase in case of a change to the stopover, which many believe will happen later this year. Presumably they're already looking around for new/secondhand 332s (with bunks fitted, for the SA route!)

Also, WW said the decision on the new short haul fleet will be made in September.

Anyone heard anything else on this?
