Emirates should start receiving the 787-8s in 2025, no idea what the planned configuration is or where they plan on sending them but it’s certainly a more suitable aircraft for those destinations if there is any truth in the rumour. The 787-8 would be perfect for BFS and possibly BRS although the lack of cargo infrastructure might be an issue for the latter. BOH would certainly be left field. Can LPL handle wide bodies?

Source is close but clearly is only a rumour. It would NOT be involving A380 or 777-300ER

Runway at NCL is 2,330m and takes 777-300ER

LPL is 2,286m
BOH is 2,270m and is already handling A340-600
BFS is 2,780m

Interesting times!!

787-8 would be great but I reckon the 777-300 could eaisly do LPL - only 44m shorter than NCL which is already doing it

FlyDubai get 789's late 2025 / into 2026...they'd be fine for it. I dont think its as crazy as people think.

Presumably BOH would be due to a lack of additional slots at LHR? No 3rd runway either.

Any idea when this would be announced?

According to Simple Flying, Newcastle will be taken over by FlyDubai's 789s due to a lack of premium consumers... so perhaps you could see FlyDubai at Liverpool/Belfast but I cannot even begin to imagine Bournemouth before Bristol.

Emirates are not in the business of competing against themselves. Fly Dubai was also never created to compete with Emirates. So I do not see Fly Dubai in UK soon and I think new destinations are unlikely, particularly LPL or BOH. I think this rumour has come from one of those ticket web sites which make you believe there are nonstop flights when none exists.

Or someone at Emirates touting additional UK regional airports are in the mix to help drive negotiations with existing, bigger UK stations.

Not sure anyone bar Emirates knows the full year round load and more importantly yield profit and upgrade rate, nor will Simple Flying

Fly Dubai are not expecting any 787-9 deliveries until 2026. However, Emirates have 20 Boeing787-8s and 10 Boeing 787-10s on order with deliveries due to commence in 2025 providing Boeing ever deliver aircraft on time again, of course.
