Passenger convenience is rarely a consideration when airlines choose to divert.

Reported by FlyingInIreland.com, https://flyinginireland.com/2024/04/...ched-the-a330/, 23rd April 2024 marked 30 years since the delivery of the first Airbus aircraft to Aer Lingus, with EI-SHN, an Airbus A330-301 joining the fleet on that date.

Airbus has released a short video to mark the occasion

thought there might be more fuss about planned DUB-LAS A330 service for W24.
Ive a feeling this will be one of these ‘I thought they already operated this’. Ive a feeling maybe last a few seasons and disappear. Def not one for the long awaited and now delayed/postponed XLRs.

IALPA members have rejected a Labour Court recommendation of a 9.25% wage increase, by way of an interim solution to an ongoing pay dispute with the airline.

It looks as though Airbus A321XLR msn 11348 that was originally scheduled to be the first of the type to be delivered to EI will now be going to IB.

That was officially announced by Airbus and Iberia on 20 May 2024.

I'm sure that it has already been discussed previously here on pprune.

There are loads of articles online concerning this, including the official statement from Airbus and IAG.

I'm sure you are totally aware of the circumstances behind the decision!

“No meaningful progress was made, with Ialpa continuing to demand an unsustainable level of increase in pilot pay (up to 23.8pc) that was not supported by any increases in productivity or flexibility,” they added.

Can anyone shed any light on what Aer Lingus has already offered and what productivity improvements and increased flexibility that they're seeking...?!

To quote Ron Burgundy "Boy, that escalated quickly... I mean, that really got out of hand fast."

From RTÉ, 21 June 2024
Pilots who are members of Irish Airline Pilots Association (IALPA) in Aer Lingus will take part in an eight-hour strike on 29 June.

The union served formal notice to Aer Lingus management this afternoon, informing the airline that pilots will strike from 5am to 1pm next Saturday.

IALPA had already served notice of an indefinite work-to-rule, which is due to commence at 00:01hrs next Wednesday 26 June.

To be fair Irish Aviation isnt really discussed here. The irish threads are very quiet.

Its being discussed in great detail on other Irish forum.
