Morocco - UK must utilise a GB aircraft to comply with relevant bi-literal regulations

Except that Ryanair don't use GB registered aircraft on other Moroccan services e.g RAK/BHX. They do however use RK flight numbers so it must be a wet lease work around using EU registered Ryanair aircraft.

Other airports would suspend the works if there were so many flights inbound.
Would they? Can you give examples? The time for overnight work already had a very short window - how many airports regularly have flights scheduled back in at 02.30?

As ATNotts has said, not just ATC but fire, handlers and all the rest would have to be called in at short notice.

To me, I wonder if it would have been more prudent for TUI and Jet2 to delay their flights and have their aircraft delivering all of the passengers back to NCL at 06:30, also having their aircraft in the right place for this mornings duties, rather than ferrying them around and positioning crews and coaching passengers and all the other faff involved.

Yes, EU261 would definitely come into play if it was a deliberate choice to delay the flights to arrive after the planned closure, but will EU261 apply anyway to the passengers diverted into EDI and MAN? I think it might.

Had I been pax, I would have much preferred a 4 hour delay, arriving back into NCL and avoiding all of the hassle with the coach. And you’d arrive back through your front door at about the same time anyway bearing in mind you still have to get dropped off at NCL and make your way home from there.

As they were already late, maybe the crew didn't have the hours.

A few more LONG HAUL flights. P & O are going to operate a total of 8 extra flights to the Carribean from three additional UK airports....Glasgow NEWCASTLE and Cardiff between November 25 and February 26.# to link with sailings from Barbados.

Jet2 757 covering PMI tonight! Probably the last time a Jet2 757 will be seen at NCL.

I see from the Chronicle today that Jet2 have a terrible record for delayed flights from NCL.

I don’t know. Leeds wasn’t great either, suggesting it wasn’t a Newcastle issue. Seems a mix of destinations, so not necessarily the weather. Not sure what maintenance and ATC impacts there were. In short, can’t see any obvious answers but some flights were 2-3 hours late yesterday which strikes me as unusual.

There were some huge massive super cells over Europe yesterday pushing east from France stretching from the Italian boarder up to Northern Germany.

My flight from Amsterdam was late yesterday and bad weather was blamed for that with crews and connecting passengers being late,

Cheers - the way your comment was written implied airline/airport performance issues, rather than general summer Saturday "everythings turned to sh*t"
