That repost has been made every season by someone, even under the Rouge brand.

Rather than comparing against Heathrow ( where highly competitive and massive over capacity in the back of the bus is dumped at discounts) , a better measure might be against Edinburgh or the secondary French cities perhaps Lyon for compable price bundles.

Many Canadian companies and sectors are notorious for high prices even in competitive markets - Looking at you Roberts Telecom.

All that said may in fact simply be an intentional policy of managed decline on a pretty pathetic service idk.

Heathrow competitive? To USA for sure but not to Canada. It's overwhelmingly Air Canada by quite some way with BA miles behind and Westjet niche on one flight per day. Is it the case that Air Canada are selling competitively FROM Canada or is it expensive fron both ends?

Well, if you add Gatwick into the equation, that’s an extra BA YVR, plus the two daily WS flights split between YYZ/YHZ/YYT on the MAX.

Still need BA back to YYC and someone on YEG-LON though.

I imagine a WS YYZ-MAN on the 737 would definitely drive the fares down

It’s a good question and what the balance of sales are IDK to be honest. However we can say the traditional VFR mothers and daughters cohorts of the later 20th century are no longer there today.

In London as a wider consideration Air Transat and Westjet and even BA are “stealing” price conscious at Gatwick ,whilst long standing Canadian poachers AFKL can’t be ignored across the UK market .

I’d say that’s a competitive market.

I don’t think ( correct me if otherwise) that Air Canada has actually increased their slot holdings at Heathrow in decades through usage and destinations service have been consolidated. Long gone Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Gander, St John’s and I think fewer services are terminating in Vancouver . As have the hops Europe and onto India ( did I read that they are restoring a onward flight to India in autumn using the Calgary aircraft; will be interesting to see what they drop to accommodate the return sector)

YYZ-LHR-BOM effectively swaps to YYC-LHR-DEL

The inaugural PVG-MAN service is now airborne. ETA 06:15.

This leaves Manchester with 14 weekly flights to the Greater China region, rising to 16 when Cathay increase to 6 weekly from 1st December.

What they did though was consolidate, drop the LGW Rouge experiment as well as YYT, YEG and YOW and then funnelled volume through YYZ and YUL using mainly B77Ws and B789s. Now YYZ T1 is at capacity and AC are shifting long haul capacity to YUL, as during peak times, YYZ is just rammed to capacity. So Air Canada's willingness to open secondary markets is physically constrained by gate capacity at YYZ (ironically I am looking at YYZ T1 out of the window where I am typing this!!) So the grand ambitions to open up new routes using the A321N might be impacted by nowhere to park them at their biggest hub. It's not as if they rely on local MAN traffic to feed their LHR flights post BMI folding into BA so strange that MAN gets little TLC given the strong UK/Canada relationship. I wonder if they're seeking bookings skewed towards one POS though?

In dates checked for May'25, the web site shows flights 6 x weekly with no flights on Sunday.
That said, I didn't try and do a dummy booking for the Tuesday or Wednesday, the other days it doesn't operate at present.

From what I can see, there’s daily MAN-HKG from May but only 6 weekly HKG-MAN - assume the extra HKG-MAN will be loaded at some point.

yeah but even if he does know stuff he doesn’t post it. The poster saying daily next year is much more reliable for info about things not yet in the public domain.

Spanners doesn’t post anything that is in the domain of rumours ( perhaps a good thing in business) in my experience.
