SEN was never right from anywhere as we've seen with the other routes from there. LCY would be a good shout as its no longer just a 'business airport' I doubt people are using it as a major connecting route.
Were there not some flood cancellations?
I expect some reshuffling, but overall not to bad.

Is Southend lacking enough slots, parking space or gates to handle Carlisle ? My understanding is that at the moment SEN generally is not particularly capacity constrained, so SEN should grab whatever routes it can get, no matter how much better the route might perform at alternate London-area airports. I imagine Carlisle-Heathrow would see more pax than Carlisle-Southend, but this theoretical option doesn't exist in the real world
That said, if the flying is not profitable for Nyxair / Stobart, then there is not a lot of point in flying the route

SEN equates to 17 pax per flight unless there were any cancellations in which case it may be higher. For a new domestic route heading into the off-season served only 4x weekly it doesn’t seem too bad.
BHD is looking good though, I would assume DUB would be at the same level or higher.

Situated west of the City, better approaches with no higher ground in the vicinity & serving west Cumbria as well. Less well developed was probably the reason for the decision?
It fate was well & truly sealed in 2001 when it was the burial ground following a major foot & mouth outbreak. Followed by a wind farm installed!

Yes - Carlisle airport is the wrong side of the city for the Cumbrian coast - definitely in the wrong place for serving the Cambrian coast!!
Would be interesting to to know what the deal is between LM and Stobart's, and where the financial risk is (definitely not with Nyxair).

I can't see a route to any London destination being viable. Unless your actual origin or destination are very close to the airport, any time saving will be slight, and swamped by the much greater frequency of the hourly train. The only mainland routes which might work would be to SOU, Exeter or Newquay, where the train, although still frequent, is much slower, and involves a change of train (and train operator), and if travelling via London to Southampton, a change of station.

CAX - BHD: 777 passengers
The October stats are:-

SEN ...... 578
November pax for Carlisle
BHD ......611
SEN.......not yet published
mmmm the figures are not going in a good direction, wonder where the cut off is even with a subsidy ?

Those are all old links - I don't think the Carlisle services started in time to get the Regional Development fund money. The airport certainly did get part-funding for some of the re-development work.
Be interesting to know how many of those other routes listed ever started....
