Air Show
I see Skylive are starting to surface for air again - the RAF have announced the Typhoon will be displaying on May 28th (the only other RAF act to announce their schedule is the King Air display in which DTVA did not feature).
Theoretically, an organisation such as the RAF would vet Skylive before committing their assets to them, therefore dismissing the general public's lack of confidence - or would they just grab the cheque??

Hearing talk of a two aircraft operation moving into the airport this week, operating out of Hangar 1. According to gossip they've snapped up most of the "new" terminal offices at the expense of FoDTVA and Skylive who have both had to relocate.
Don't get too excited, it's a firm that left not too long ago but might as well not have as they are always here, and are now returning following a change in ownership and minus three of their previously five-strong fleet.
Don't suppose anyone will have any trouble working out who that is!

Peel and DTV Airport - Where is the investment promised 15 years ago?
Not much happening on the DTV front. I recall Peel promising to invest £20m which is why they got the whole airport for £500,000
What happened to the staff pensions after Peel wanted to stop paying into them?

A new version of the DTV Airport wiki site. Look at the passenger numbers.

No wonder the Peel boss Whittiker is now worth $2.8 billion after being gifted 250 acres for £500k.

"Economists warn that the Northern Powerhouse must focus on growth across the region – not just a handful of hotspots.
In the North East, there is concern that areas such as Teesside will be left behind. The closure of the SSI steel works in Redcar with the loss of thousands of jobs has hit the region hard.
According to analysis by KPMG, of the 20 investment opportunities pitched to Chinese investors during the Chancellor’s recent visit to China, only two were in the North East and none were in the Tees Valley and Durham region.
Business leaders across the North are desperate to attract new investment and improve transport links. Robert Hough, chairman of the Local Enterprise Partnership in Liverpool, says the region’s ‘entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well’ but adds that ‘connectivity to both new and existing markets’ is crucial to the success of the Northern Powerhouse." - End quote

and so it goes on..just
Beefer. .Not sure if you mean well..but at least you provide the facts!!
I have no idea where this airport is going.
Notams today state reduced ATC cover again. And also airport is PPR. ?? How does that encourage business and ad hoc type traffic??
Rumour down the pub is that some investment is shortly needed on infrastructure for the future..are PEEL up for it?
What ever the master plan is..I have no idea..we really seem to be drifting unless others can provide positive proof of advancement??

Beafer providing facts??!! A pint of what Highwide is having please!
There isn't a single fact in his entire post!
DTVA is not the only [third tier] airport to drop to reduced ATC cover on rare occasion! And it is most definitely not the only PPR - most airports and airfields these days are PPR!
How many times has this been conclusively answered on this thread - hundreds!!! Just let it go man!
I know many prefer to criticise and don't like me defending the airport - but make it harder for me than that!

Presume dog must be sick as he hasn't seen all the infrastructure work being done.
Where do we start.
Hangar 1 doors being refurbished, wiring improved, roof to be overhauled.
Hangar 2 whole roof re-coved. Doors to be overhauled.
South side road work, landscaping.
And some sort of cable work on the South side which has taken two weeks so far!

Not all bad news -
Amsterdam passengers up 11% in Feb, overall passenger figures up 7%.
However, looks like Eastern is 3 daily on Aberdeen from 11th April, 2 on a Friday, and a Saab on a Sunday which routes ABZ-MME-HUY-MME-ABZ. Not too surprising given the circumstances.

Small question, how many currently posting actually live/use DTV?
Just I live very near, fly out of it and enjoy the place, except it's very run down and looks such a state from the service side. Terminal is very well kept in Peel defence.

I'm 4 miles away, and use KLM two or three times a year. Meanwhile, my wife books holidays out of Leeds, Newcastle, Doncaster, etc.
I try not to pay too much attention when I pass through, as I worked there '83-'85, and don't really want to recall how far it's shrunk and decayed.
Going for the early KLM, the surroundings compound the effect of getting up at "stupid o'clock", and the need for an 0500 report in order to get through security.
