I have been informed that Sheffield is to close in September. This follows the news that The British Regional route to Belfast City, the final commercial route is to finish. There are contractual obligations to a Jersey charter over the summer and then that's it.
Shame, good idea, but badly built and run.

I heard the same thing, from friends who live in the area and had seen it in several local papers.
That said, it was my understanding that the place would remain open, regardless of traffic, until Finningly was opened.

The airport has been struggling financially for quite some time, and the backers have been constantly pressed for additional cash. I understand there has also been an issue over management.
I wouldn't be surprised if the report was true.
