Of the millions pf passengers that fly each day why do you choose to write about your experiences on the Silverjet thread? And with a caveat "I'm just a passenger"?

Am just a passenger too....work in the industry...Silverjet have a great product and some great folks working for them... its not EOS but then at least they have to reasonably financially transparent given their listed status.

EOS claim to have just received more institutional finance from a current investor....This should perhaps read...a current investor has baled them out rather than lose part of the 210 million they have already burned.... I see Silverjet outliving EOS if there is any sense in the world....lets hope I am right..

Because I am.

Epsilon minus.

Call me old-fashioned, but I was working on the principle that the most sensible place to write about Silverjet would be in the Silverjet thread.

And as for the caveat - it's because I am just a passenger. I've got no axe to grind with the business model, with ownership, with extra funding or anything like that.

I just want to go to the airport, get on the plane and arrive at the other end with the minimum of fuss and bother. And that is what Silverjet did for me yesterday - really very well.

So I'm not exactly sure what I've done wrong here - but I'm quite happy for you to let me know

Best Regards,

Atlantean

Atlantean-

Hear hear. Good for you.Take no notice of the doom mongers here on pprune who obviously think they know better about everything whilst they sit beneath that big black cloud. If youve experienced a great service- then tell everyone even if you do upset the manic depresive numptys here on pprune.

Honest Fr@nk is right on the money.

You were quite at liberty to make your post.

Several friends of mine have used Silverjet and swear by it. I am happy to back that up on a PM.

I sincerely hope Silverjet get thru' the swamp.

Both the 767s which were due to go to Silverjet, G-BYAA and G-BYAB, are returning to service with Thomsonfly.

I thnk Silverjet will probably have to sit tight and try to make a go of what they have at the moment.

I guess if I were them I'd watch Dubai and swap it for something else if it isn't working.

Epsilon is it because your own "project" failed to get off the ground that you now choose to come out from under the stone and place a cloud over other peoples open comments

Perhaps I should have my fingers crossed, but I have just put my money on a couple of Silverjet tickets to New York departing on the 30th of August.

...I can't be the only one who looks on the firm as offering superb value for money.

Yes, Saw BYAA and BYAB flying in Tfly colours. Apparently deposits weren,t paid? I thought S/Jet need five aircraft in order to make a profit.

See that Eos has filed for bankruptcy in the US Courts. Last flights on 27 April. Sad news for all staff involved.

This is Y7's big chance, if they can capture E0's client base, then the business class concept could keep flying. There is a market for it - not for 3 airlines, but 1 is justifiable.

If EOS cannot be profitable how can silverjet every make a profit charging a lot less. EOS going under may give Silverjet less pressure but Silverjet need to hike prices to cover costs. It is not going to get any more cash invested. The question is how much cash they have to keep going?

EOS had 48 seats.
Silverjet has 100+.

That is why they can charge alot less. Also take into account cheaper costs (private terminals, cheaper airports etc.)

MUFC Fan

MUFC Fan do you really think running your own terminal is cheaper than paying a facility charge / handling charge in a much larger one?

I see Silverjet is immediately exploiting Eos' demise by offering to fly their customers at the same price that Eos charged, provided the airline has seating capacity.

Re-book your EOS flight with Silverjet

Following the cessation of EOS operations, Silverjet is offering EOS customers the opportunity to re-book on available Silverjet services
Book with Silverjet before midnight 10 May 2008 (BST) and we will honour the price you paid to EOS, subject to seat availability and a minimum price paid*. To re-book, please call Silverjet on UK: 0844 855 0111 or USA: 877 359 7458 (FLYSILVERJET), 24 hours a day.
Electronic proof of the ticket price paid to EOS and your original EOS e-confirmation number will be required.
* Please note, if you have paid less than £600 / $1,200 plus taxes one-way or £1,200 / $2,400 plus taxes round trip, we will be unable to honour this offer.

EOS was a First Class Product whereas Silverjet is a Business Class Product so would anyone have been able to get such prices and then the Silverjet offer would apply?

@ "22/04", your # 873.

I used to use MaxJet to IAD, and one one occasion was talking to the flight crew near the gate. The Captain was concerned about their expansion to include LAS and LAX ... he thought it was too soon. That was some 18 months ago, IIRC.

Hopefully Silverjet will have the time [and money?] to be able to juggle themselves into more lucrative sectors, especially now both main opponents have expired. There is a world of passengers out there who will be prepared to pay a bit more to get Club Class standards cheaper than the main carriers ... remember that not everyone flies at their Company's expense.

IMO, it's a question of seeing a bigger picture. Business travellers need reliability and flexibility, not just one flight a day. The "affluent" leisure travellers can live with restricted schedules, and have to pay with their own money to have a bit of comfort and space.

Eos was a Business Class model, the same as Silverjet, not a First Class model.

Just seen this on another forum...

Silverjet in talks this weekend with financial backer.... presumably if successful will tell vultures trying to get silverjet cheap i.e. anything below 30p to bog off.... all will be revealed tomorrow either way the sp will be going north (story news of the world)
