I think the problem here is that they have no contacts with other operators for either formal or informal discussions. If you have never operated in the airline/airport environment your contact list looks a little bare.
By the wat what's a facebook? I presume it's something to do wth computers rather than airlines.

Facebook...a "social networking site".........doesn't anyone go to the pub nowadays?.
Mind you no one would want to stand a round with some of the management team as they would probably be on expenses and drink Bombay gin and tonic instead of us commoners on Gordons.

Just been to the terminal to get my new pass. It's a ghost town in there!

Everything's shut. What was the logic behind closing the information desk? Fair enough if the phones are handled centrally, but face-to-face enquiries are a must. I had to wander through to the office area in the hope I wouldn't get arrested, whereas in the past the information desk always escorted you to the pass office.

One or two of you are behaving as though you are the CEO's of DVT and you are privy to all the ins and outs of the place. Getting carried away in fact.

Unfortunately the guilty ones are also carelessly naming names and breaching PPRuNe rules. As a result one person is banned for a while to reflect on his real position on PPRuNe and his and others posts have been deleted.

More of the same unless you keep to the facts.

Get a grip.

That comes from using the manufactured name of the airport instead of what it is really called.

Another sad loss, the final catering staff will go from what used to be ICS at the end of the month. All that will be left are a few part time jobs cleaning the KLM and Eastern.
It wasn't to long ago when they would of been bringing in extra staff to provide the food for the based IT aircraft, a sign of the times.

Personally, I think it's a bit rich to pull up the mod over an acronym when some of these armchair CEOs, several of whom clearly work in the industry, can't even spell hangar correctly!

Much more likely to get it with long-haul flying

I gather a Virgin Atlantic A340-600 is passing through MME on 3rd May operating an MOD charter to Calgary. Quite a big bird for the airfield, and perhaps the first visit for such an aircraft?

That will be interesting to see, I believe it will indeed be the first ever visit of an A340-600, in fact might be the first A340 altogether, can't remember one in the past.

Can't be much margin for error on that one at MME ?

Pretty sure there have been some MoD charters on 747's through MME in the past.

Last time I was there though it was in a VC10

Yep we've had anything from VC10's through DC10's and A330's to B747's and B767's but I don't believe we've ever had an A340. Indeed the Flyglobespan B763's are very regular at the moment though why the focus has switched to Calgary in the last few weeks I'm not too sure.

MME can handle big aircraft Shame there is a lack of aircraft altogether.
