Loganair and Manx2 would both be a good choice for the route. It will be a shame if the route is lost altogether but that might be the reality IOM has to face up to. We have done well not to lose any routes over the past 18 months (except CEG but thats an exception)
NCL needs low capacity, suitable times (not daily) and sensible pricing.

To be announced later, Manx2 have stepped in to cover the Newcastle route with 4 flights a week on a Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. I enquired about it last week and they sent me a press release this morning Shame its not DTV but better than nothing!

Now on their website with a fantastic picture of the wooden angel - one of the best airline websites on the net!
IOM-NCL from £39.95
Route details (Starts 27th August):
Monday: 08:00 08:55/09:15-10:10
Thursday: 13:30-14:25/14:45-15:40
Friday: 13:30-14:25/14:45-15:40
Sunday: 16:00-16:55/17:20-18:15
I think this route will do very well and I would expect the frequency to rise quite some what by early next year!

Ronaldsway RESA
Some recent RESA photos added to Jon Wornham's website. Seems to be progressing well:-

VLM
Per Manx Radio news today, VLM not resuming LCY - IOM, after their summer break. A shame in way, as their service was always superb.
No big surprise though, and an opportunity for Aer Arann to consolidate further on the route.

If the main low costs come to the Island....it won't be much of a fight....then you can settle down to Manx2 as the only local carrier....loads of unemployed pilots and cabin crew on the dole and perhaps two Easyjets and One Ryan per day...unless the IOM Govt won't pay Ryanair's fees then it will just be a morning and evening Gatwick and nothing else....
Cue the tumbleweed......

It would be interesting to know the costs per passenger comparison between a large turboprop and a 737 when operating an IOM-LPL route.I would imagine a 737 burns a large ammount of fuel compared to a turboprop, especially on such a short route.
Easy and Ryan are also relying more on in flight sales and add-ons in order to make a route profitable and the short duration of the Liverpool flight(especially on a 737)would work against this.
The Luton (or Standstead) route is a different prospect, but are the passenger figures really there to support a 120 seat aircraft, especially in the winter. And if they take significant passengers away from Gatwick and London city, forcing the present operators to pull of the routes,we could lose those links forever. That really would be a disaster!

What on earth makes you "expect" that to happen!!
LTN-IOM has declined to well under 3000 pax per month. London,
as a whole, is a bigger market, but would need early AM/PM departures in each direction to attract any business PAX. Off peak leisure market is quite small. That's why IOM-LCY mid-day rotation has gone.
LPL-IOM would be a 10 minute sector on an A319, and the DHSS traffic which relies on multiple frequencies, is key to getting critical mass on the route.
Sorry, but you are speculating out of your ae.
Even looking well into the future, I can't imagine Easyjet wasting their time even looking at IOM until the economy picks up and market grows very significantly.
