KIEL (KEL) Airport

Hi Folks,

this is my first Posting, so i am hoping that i am doing anything right
KIEL-HOLTENAU in northern germany is a small little airport that is going to lose its last scheduled flight destination by Christmas.
Its runway is only 1260m (4134`) long, for Landings on RWY 08 it is only 1100m.
So i was wondering which comercial Aircrafts can be operated from/to that little Airport without restricting the number of PAX on Board.
So, maybe you folks can help me here. Which would be the limitations if someone operated an ATR42, ATR72, Q300 or a Q400 from that Airport?

brgds,

Thomas

From my humble opinion (will stand corrected). Some of the influences that impose an RTOW or will have an effect on a sector to render it not viable commercially;

Obviously, runway length/width
Runway gradient
Obstacles within the cone
Prevailing wind
Temperature
Nav aids

Hope this is of help, others can probably add.

R.

Hi,

thanx for your Quick answer, but it seems hard to image that you canīt fly comercially from KEL since there have been services to Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne (all with ATR42 imho) and Munich (with CRJ200).

But with which Aircraft types could they fly out of there? What would be the limitations (Range/Payload)?
Where are the ATR, Saab and Dash8 Jokeys when you need them..lol

KEL-MUC was operated with an ATR42-500, not a CanRJ. The aircraft was payload-restricted quite often (depending on the temperature).
