PSC, taxes and other charges.

Can someone give me an insight into PSC and othe fees associated with the purchase of an air ticket.

LOCOs in particular make the point that they are trying to reduce the cost of air transport. I am fully supportive and grateful to the explosion of cheap travel that Ryanair, Easy and orthers have brought about in Europe.

Can they explain the following: (I am using Ryanair as an example.)
1. Why they charge €2.50 per sector for booking with a credit card. How else are you supposed to pay online. Normally, credit card companies charge commissions but these are rarely more than a few per cent of the total purchase price.

2. PSC. Why they vary even on the same routing.
e.g. Shannon-Stansted 19Nov
Out: €14.98
In: €10.08 (in addition to govt taxes)

Shannon-Stansted 7Dec
Out: €9.98
In: €None (only govt taxes apply)

PSCs, taxes and other fees should be as transparent as their advertised "cheap" fares!

Surely in the future this will be the subject of investigation by the EU commission.
