Overnight Parking

LSG6753 - The overnight EZY Athens has not operated for some time, with the service now reduced to once a day. From memory, I think the overnighter stopped at the end of the 2004 summer season.

Since then, any EZY "night flights" (usually from Malaga with some Palma's in the summer) are back at Luton by 02.00/03.00.

Not sure if this has been mentioned here over the last few weeks but Wizz is planning a Luton-Varna-Luton service from May. The carrier then plans to also add flights from Luton to Bourgas

Would this have something to do with Wizz setting up a Bulgarian subsidiary in Sofia with a single A320 operating routes to Western Europe, or are Wizz thinking of basing an aircraft at LTN ?.

Not another based airframe!

LZ-WZA I think the spotters told me, this has been re-registered from the HA sequence already?

If Bulgaria and Romania are to be 'fully' invited into Europe, Wizz seem the ideal candidate to bring low air fares to these two new member states?

...county borders are going to be changed soon to take in more Hertfordshire land for Luton housing.
Presumably, these areas will be located either under LTN's approaches or the climb-out areas. Might as well give 'em a year's free membership of LADACAN and PAIN!!

Looking at my 1980 Ordnance Survey map shows that parts of the airport boundary fence used to sit inside Hertfordshire as the border used to run between the end of the runway and the ILS. Sometime between then and now the county border has been shifted so that it now runs along the fence line.

Hertfordshire land around Wigmore has been earmarked for additional Luton housing which will mean that the county and town border will have to be shifted. I can’t see how an expanded airport won’t eventually sit inside Luton and Bedfordshire.

Agreed. They certainly seem to be doing well at the moment with steady, regular expansion. Zagreb-Luton starts on the 27 March and on the back of this, a summer only service between Luton & Dubrovnik is also being considered.

Blimey, if they keep this up, Wizz will be soon be flying to as many destinations from Luton as easy.

For a couple of saturday's next month, Wizz seems to have been combined its inbound KTW-LPL with the KTW-LTN rotation. The flight departs LTN @ 07.50, arriving LPL 08.30.

Buster has to stay indoors during this cold snap to avoid a Blue 1!

Mistake. Already confirmed that if you want to get a blue 1, head for STN.

Are you saying that the fountain of all truthful news within the UK has got it wrong!

Well I checked the Blue 1 web site before I posted and if you do enough digging, you find the letters STN when you look. I merely wondered if Blue 1 had a change of mind?

Pity, as Helsinki is not inexpensively served very well from London and Blue 1 are offering a two class service. Bears need extra paw room and EXTRA wide seats!

Too lazy to browse through all those LTN pages, so do not shoot me for posting this:

New route by Air Turquoise from LTN to Reims with an ATR42-500, apparently daily, to start with effect summer schedule.

LTN & long-haul low-cost

Anybody got updated news of either the proposed low-cost schedules ex. LTN to Mumbai or the resurrection of the former Swedair's schedules to Islamabad via Stockholm??

Wizz Website now details London Luton to Split and Ljubjana direct on route map!!!!!

Also mentions Bourgas and Sofia - not sure if Sofia will now be direct or will remain via Budapest ??

Wizz now showing flights to both Ljubljana (4 per week) and Split (3) in their booking engine, and on the homepage. Also imply a new route to Bourgas from 1st May. There's also mention of Sofia, but in the booking engine it's still via Budapest.

Getting on for 60 scheduled destinations in S06!

I think Wizz have 20 A320's on order, fresh from the factory.

Now over 60 return flights per week from Luton by Wizz!

"Edited" to 62! Not far short of a Million pax per year and more to come!

Wizz must be closing in on Monarch Scheduled pax numbers. Monarch seem totally preoccupied with Jeans former airports? When will Monarch look 'out of the box' and realise their Luton potential? Spain or nothing? Monarch senior management, wake up, there is life and profit to be made in the Greater Europe!

Good luck to Wizz, obviously BOLD management!

Getting on for nearly double Monarch Scd. Seem to carving out a good niche market from Luton and at least two more routes to come by mid-summer. Will easy and ryan just sit back or respond ?.

Wizz now have Bourgas bookable from 2 May. Flights seem to be 3 x weekly with a vey early arrival into LTN at 06.15. Departures are timed from LTN at 22.20 so the service is providing overnight leisure travel to Bulgaria's main seaside resort area.

Plus Ljubljana at 4 x weekly , Split 3 x weekly & Zagreb daily. Decent expansion by Wizz from LTN.
