Exclamation Tony Davis Resigns as MD at bmibaby

In yet another Board Room Bust-Up, Tony Davis is apparently to be the second Director to leave the bmi group (bmibaby) in what seems like as many weeks!

Its only a short time since Austin Reid also resigned.

Question is... where is Tony Davis going? Was he pushed or did he want to leave? Why?

Something very strange is going on down at The Hall, mark my words.

Tiger Airways have confirmed his appointment as CEO.

So will he be singing "Bye Bye Baby, Baby Goodbye" as he leaves?

Will bmi be announcing his replacement soon?

Tony Davis will be taking the same position he did at bmibaby, at the new low-cost airline from Singapore Airlines, Tiger Airways.

At the moment, I believe that a temporary replacement is being sent in from mainline or regional, although it is definately only temporary. I'm led to believe he's coming in more to review how the company is doing, instead of making major changes, before the new guy arrives.

Another stone crumbles from the facade of the derelict building.

Wait! Do I hear lots more cracking, creaking and groaning? Is that subsidence I see?

............temporary replacement ..........he's coming in more to review how the company is doing...........
Jees! You mean he's going to be paid to report on the obvious?

The temporary replacement at the top probably won't be that temporary. He is already at baby as Commercial Director from what I hear.

Did you mean the pay negotiations with BALPA or did you mean bmibaby itself?

Answers on a postcard to....

ACBUS...
I doff my cap in deference to you, sir.
I used to believe that "Anthony Carn" (long gone and not missed) was the most balanced member of this forum...you know, a chip on each shoulder...yada yada yada...
You have surpassed him!
.
What is yr personal gripe about all things bmi?
You throw as many bile-filled stones as possible at as many different bmi-related threads, but rarely do you explain the reasons for your attitide.
Now, having been with bmi in their various guises for nearly 17 years, I can't always say that I have been too enamoured with every decision made by "The management" and I don't see it all through rose-tinted glasses, but the hatred in your postings?..Jeez...chill, boy!

Little Blue

acbus1 has joined 411A on my ignore list (along with Anthony Carn - acbus - I wonder). His posts are bile-filled as you observe, and we all know what he is against, ad nauseam. But the question is, what does he stand for? Do we care?

I only care so far as to know what his/her real problem is.
Constructive criticism I will always accept, but not that !!
I am proud of the fact that "Anthony Carn" added me to his ignore list...
Did you know that "he" still posts on here?
Still talks garbage, mind.

Ah yes, Little Blue, with the emphasis on Little.

Little to say thats constructive, this thread being a perfect example. My comments are constructive if you care to read them.

If nothing else, your comparison with A Carn has given me an enourmous boost! I've admired his posts many a time. No bulls**t, no crawling to the bmi management line. Sadly missed.

Yellow Sun. Does'nt come out very often. Set in his ways. Please practice your putdowns before posting further. They really are pathetic at the moment. Signs of bmi middle management mentality.

My point, in my first post here, was that bmibaby is in a state of decline. The departure of Davis, after all his silly rhetoric over the last few years, is a clear indication of the state of baby.

Just look at all the bases they operate from and ask yourself where the success and profitability is evident. That can't continue.

Of more significance is that baby is showing no signs whatsoever of even scratching the armour surrounding EasyJet, Ryanair and the like. It's had enough time, since formation, to show that it is going to expand rapidly, or fail. There is no middle ground in the lo cost business. Expand rapidly or wither away.

The end is nigh!

Acbus

To an extent you are right. Baby has not expanded as it should have. You only have to look at MAN, LGW and CWL to see that management have failed to achieve the potential in those airports.

However, according to Sir Michael Baby is the only part of BMI group making a profit. How long for is another question.

The departure of TD so soon after Austin Reid is setting alarm bells ringing inside and outside of the group. Time will tell what the future is.

Baby is heading for a showdown with it's pilots and that looks like it is going to an indicative ballot on action soon. This could well be more worrying.

Whoever is in charge of Baby, they must realise that Donington's (and the pathfinder's) attitude to staff must change now!

Less revealing (to those who are'nt aware) than a change to Sir Roger Boy, I suppose.

Ho ho, Mr Bus..
Middle management? You flatter me !!
I would say that yr attempts to belittle me and Yellow sun are pretty laughable, still, you tried, bless ya !
You have obviously been overlooked for promotion
at some time in your career and cannot/will not handle the rejection.
I, for one, do not care one iota what you may think of me.
The shame being, that I will know you and will have, no doubt, passed the time of day with you on many occasions.
Oh, and trust me, the comparison with Carn was by no means a compliment!
As I said, I do not view the company thru' rose-tinted glasses, but I have enjoyed my time with them very much, and will continue to do so until the end.
Whether that means I leave to go elsewhere, or the company goes to another.
You hate bmi, I do not.
Lets agree to disagree.
Tot ziens Mr Bus
