The thread below from another group suggests an April start.

Could GLA sustain 2x Asian start-ups at the same time now that Emirates has announced their intention to commence in April '04? I hope so, but I doubt it!

Billyg,

different markets I suspect!

PIA would be mainly Visiting Friends and Relatives type traffic..

Emirates - Scots going on holiday to the playgrounds of the UAE and onward connections to Australia and those hot, sunny, Desert types looking for green grass, trees, mountains, rain and snow!

hope they both prove very successful!

EK adding yet another UK point adds to the huge competitive problem they are giving all other operators between UK/Gulf , but much more importantly, Australasia, Far East, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and all of East, Central and Southern Africa. The A 380 order isnt for fun,- it will give everyone else a massive headache.
