Buccaneer 50th anniversary a few shots...
The Blackburn Buccaneer first flew on 30th April 1958!
50 years on, we can still see them over SA! Just Lekker!
I have posted this in the Military Forum but seeing as the only
Bucc's flying today are in God's back garden, I thought I
would post here too! Some in the SA section won't visit the mil thread
and might have been involved with 24 Sqn or the Buccaneer in general!
(mods, I trust this is ok?)
They were all taken by me during the final 6 months of flying with the RAF
1993-1994. I trust they bring back some great memories of this truly awesome aircraft.
We are all just lucky that some are still flying in Cape Town

First blood to the Bucc was at the hands of the SAAF thirty years ago, almost to the day. Bit of pointless information for you (but you probably already knew that)....

SAAF
SRT thanks for taking the time to reply, yes the SAAF
has certainly used the aircraft well!
I have attached a link to a part of my site with a story
you might be aware of? If not, its worth a read.

Bucaneer to the rescue
Man what a story! I was lucky enought to do some training ops with them whilest I was on Strike Craft, they jammed all our radars and fire control systems and then flew circles around us for fun but most of all I remember the noise!
Tangled with them at low level quite a few times in the good old RAF (peacetime) days. Read all about it in "F4 Phantom- A Pilot's story"- chapter titled "A Tale of two Buccs". Great machines; great crews.
